Path to Cybersecurity

My passion for technology started at a young age. I built my first computer in middle school, and that experience sparked a lifelong interest in tech. I was inspired by content creators like Linus Tech Tips and NCIX, whose videos fueled my curiosity about hardware and innovation. Back then, gaming played a massive role in shaping my interests, with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 dominating the console market.

During the Modern Warfare 2 era, I became deeply involved in hacking and modding. Communities like TheTechGame and NextGenUpdate became my go-to platforms for learning and experimenting. My curiosity soon led me to create my own game modifications, which eventually evolved into an interest in coding and game development.

While I initially explored coding as a potential career path, taking a few college courses helped me realize that full-time software development wasn’t the right fit for me. However, my passion for technology never waned. I shifted my focus to IT, where I could still work on technical challenges while pursuing coding and game development as personal projects.

While working at a local tech shop during college, I gained hands-on experience troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software issues. These early experiences honed my problem-solving skills and deepened my understanding of technology. Seeking to advance my career, I joined the U.S. military, determined to secure an IT role—and I did. This opportunity provided invaluable experience and reinforced my decision to pursue a career in tech.

After my military service, I resumed my journey in IT with a renewed focus on cybersecurity. My interest expanded beyond gaming into securing computer systems and web applications. Today, I am committed to advancing my knowledge and educating others about the ever-evolving field of technology and cybersecurity.
